There is currently no web-based communication app on the market that offers fully customizable configuration options tailored to individual needs. This gap is exactly what Huhu aims to fill. Designed specifically for seniors and individuals with cognitive or motor impairments, Huhu provides an intuitive, low-barrier user experience based on extensive research. By prioritizing accessibility and adaptability, the app ensures seamless communication for those who need it most. Developed in collaboration with our client Caritas, the project was brought to life by a team of 11 students, combining technical innovation with a strong focus on inclusivity.
Designing the Future
We placed great emphasis on UX and UI design, ensuring accessibility for all users. Starting with paper prototyping, we refined our concept through a wireframed Figma prototype and continuous user testing. Especially “extreme testing” with users facing the greatest challenges provided crucial insights, leading to a clear and intuitive final design. Technically, our Vue.js-based web app is built on modular components that structure key features like registration, configuration, and communication tools. A PostgreSQL database stores user data, messages, and call histories centrally, ensuring a robust and efficient system.
When the Magic Happens
The true magic unfolds when technology becomes effortlessly accessible. Our application enables text and voice messaging, photo sharing, and video calls, all seamlessly adapting to individual needs. With customizable settings, it adjusts to various restrictions, making inclusivity its core strength and setting it apart from existing solutions. More than just a tool, our goal is to empower seniors and people with disabilities, helping them overcome the fear of digital communication and making meaningful connections easier than ever.
